Pakistan’s Former President Pervez Musharraf Dies from Amyloidosis – Cause of Death Explain

Pervez Musharraf, a four-star general in the Pakistan army and the country’s tenth president, died today (February 5) at 79 at the American Hospital in Dubai. He apparently suffered from long-term amyloidosis. Swelling, fatigue, numbness, shortness of breath, and pain in the hands or feet are all symptoms.

The cause of the death of Pervez Musharraf was Amyloidosis, a disease in which amyloid proteins accumulate in the heart, kidneys, liver, or other organs. This abnormal protein is usually produced by the bone marrow and may be deposited in any tissue or organ.

This was a prolonged case at the American Hospital in Dubai, on February 5, 2023, at the age of 79. His body will return to Pakistan on February 6, 2023, from Dubai. This is the trend that high post leaders die outside Pakistan after retirement. 

Pervez Musharraf was also one of them. His death is very sad news for Pakistan. He was the mastermind behind the plan and strategy of the Kargil War between India and Pakistan.

Who was Pervez Musharraf?

Pervez Musharraf was the former president of Pakistan, born on August 11 1943. He belonged to the Urdu-speaking Family. He had also served in the Army of Pakistan on the position of Army General Pakistan. 

He fought several battles Indo-Pakistan War of 1965, the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the Siachen Kargil War, the Afghan Civil War (1996-2001), the 1996 Pakistani coup, India standoff Insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (2001-2002). 

His father, Syed Musharrafuddin, was a civil servant. And his mother, Zarin Musharraf, was a housewife. He was the tenth president of Pakistan and served from 2001-2008. He proved to be an asset for a nation like Pakistan. He belonged to the All Pakistan Muslim League (Q). He was a strong leader. 

He worked hard for the growth and development of Pakistan. Due to his illness, He was living in Dubai from 2016. He appointed Zafarullah Jamali, who Shaukat Aziz succeeded as Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was prolonged suffering for a disease named Amyloidosis. He died on February 5, 2023, at the American Hospital in Dubai.

Pervez Musharraf Career

Beginning his military career in 1961, the former president served as a second lieutenant during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965. He also played an important role in the Afghan civil war, supporting the Taliban. In 1988, he was promoted to four-star general by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and he led the Kargil conflict, which resulted in the India-Pakistan war in 1999. He was elected President of Pakistan in 2001 and retired as Army Chief in 2007.

During Musharraf’s presidency, the country’s GDP increased by 50%, domestic savings fell, and economic inequality increased rapidly. It should be noted that he has survived numerous assassination attempts during his tenure. Later, he resigned in 2008 due to dramatically weakening his position and went on a self-imposed exile to London.

In 2013 he returned to Pakistan to participate in the general election and was disqualified as the high court issued an arrest warrant against him. In 2019, Musharraf was sentenced to death which Lahore High Court later annulled.

He was hospitalized already the previous year due to the same reason. Amyloidosis is a group of diseases in which abnormal protein builds up in the tissues and organs. It causes severe discomfort, including weight loss, palpitations, peripheral epiderma, shortness of breath, and feelings of numbness and faintness. These proteins become distorted due to both genetic and environmental factors.

Treatment for such a problem entails lowering the amount of protein involved. It affects 3 – 13 people per million. It has been scientifically proven to occur between 55 and 60.
